Alto Key showcases his understanding in ‘take what i can get’

Alto Key catches audience attention, boasting a collective audience of nearly two million followers across platforms, the London-based songwriter builds a community around support, sharing videos of his music, life in London and viral challenges. Seeing success with his releases he’s been supported by BBC Music Introducing and others.

Recently, the artist released what might be his most vulnerable song yet, ‘take what i can get’, the new single, filled with unparalleled honesty about where his struggles and doubts lie.

The journey starts with a repeating piano line, the tone feeling like the constant roll of the day-to-day, changing ever so slightly but compounding into a colossal snowball of emotional turmoil. Bursting into life at the chorus, Alto Key leaves no topic swept under the rug, speaking both to his physical insecurities and also his mental battles, not sure whether he’s reached failure or success but is still determined to push on. If more people were as brutally honest as this song shows to be, we’d all be a little more confident.

Alto Key adds, “‘take what i can get’ is probably my most raw song yet because it’s just me honestly spilling my feelings out in the song lyrics: I talk about how I look. How I’ve felt pressure to not pursue my ambitions. Everything I’ve done to change myself to try be more successful. Whilst it was painful to write, it’s been very empowering for me getting it all out and I think its rawness will really resonate with people.”
