Forming in 2020, and taking plenty of time to forge their sound before emerging with debut single ‘Calling Time’, Arkayla immediately gained traction in their Manchester home-town. Since then, they’ve gone from strength to strength, chart success, record of the week, radio play and press acclaim all accolades given to the four-piece. Reinvigorated once again with ‘Falling Down’ and now new single ‘Lost In A Valentine’, Arkayla’s youthful exuberance is tagged as a future powerhouse.
Arkayla’s ‘Lost In A Valentine’ is the latest in the Manchester quartet’s rise to industry acclaim, the track brings themes of love and breaking away from your home town to a roaring soundtrack, a far cry from its origins as guitarist Fin shares. “The initial idea we had for Lost In A Valentine was a proper tender acoustic ballad. We weren’t really sure where to go with it until we came up with the bassline, which instantly gave it that fiery energy you find across a lot of our music. It’s an ode to love, escapism and the self-loathing a lot of people feel about their hometowns.”
The band still hold true to what makes their music so exciting as they release new singles, bringing an often missed raw indie energy and youthful bounce that comes not only from having something to say but having fun behind the mic. The track spends much of its time capturing simple, energetic grooves, filling the skies with a flurry of bass, guitar and drums all competing for your attention. By the final chorus, the vocals are ready to assert their spot at the centre, breaking free of the written melody for extra vocalisations and altered lines, bringing the band together for the final moments.
