Bristol four-piece Chandra roots their themes in the human condition, struggles of self-belief, building confidence and riding the daily see-saw of mental health. By taking on the less glamorous parts of what it means to be human, they can authentically craft emotional affirmations of joy and contentment. Cementing their lineup as Chandra Nair, Keith Jones, Chris Wong and Rock Cheung, the band sets themselves up for an exciting debut EP.
Co-produced alongside Elliot Vaughan and written by their eponymous frontman, Chandra’s latest single is another infectious pop-rock anthem that electrifies audiences with good vibes. ‘Lifted’ starts out with a muted riff, Chandra’s vocals entering with a clear smile behind the microphone.
The steady progression from subtle uprising to joyous rebellion directly reflects the feelings of the listener, the band seize the opportunity to brighten your day as their most important goal. The final moments of vocal layers pull you in, helping you to push back against the negative moments and continue to glow, a climax chorus cementing the power of optimism.
Chandra dives into why it matters to spread positivity with his music, “We wrote this song so that wherever you are, whatever kind of day you’ve had, you can sing along and feel awesome. The thing is, having a brilliant day isn’t an everyday occurrence but the vibe is infectious. And something I’ve personally struggled with are the highs and lows of life.
Sometimes you wake up and it’s hard to have a positive outlook on the day…. But I’ve found that if you go into the day smiling and full of positivity, it affects everyone around you and you’re basically inviting good vibes… you’re setting yourself AND everybody else up to have a great day. There’s always going to be somebody around you who’s having a great day and those people have the power to make us all feel lifted. I challenge you to sing along to this song and not be beaming by the end of it.”
