Back with his first release of the year, and following on from his incredible series of 2021 singles, rising singer songwriter Daniel Etherton is back and better than ever this 2023 with the release of his brand new track, Mona Lisa. With inspiration taken from artists such as Bon Iver, The xx, and Daughter, Daniel draws us in to an emotive and ambient alt-rock soundscape that is a stunning ode to Renaissance heroine and famous, immortal painting, the Mona Lisa.
Talking about the track, Daniel explains:
“As a qualified art-historian and singer-songwriter it’s synonymous with who I am, what I do – what I love!”
As a qualified art-historian, we see Daniel blend his interests in both art history and music, as his passion for art forms the inspiration for the track. With this bleeding into the fabric of his skilled songwriting, Mona Lisa delivers a captivating metaphorical lyricism that conveys an entrancement with the iconic painting. Opening the song is a stunning and ambient soundscape, filled with delicate instrumentals and vocalizations, before Daniel’s bold and unforgettable vocals kick in. And as the track progresses and dives into the chorus, we move from softer, indie melodies, to a bolder and a more intense rock-led soundscape.
The start of another exciting year for the talented singer-songwriter, we can’t wait to see what he has in store for us next. To keep up with Daniel, and all his upcoming releases and music news, make sure to find him on all his socials: @detherton
