Ella Eliza just dropped her second EP, I Wonder How It Will All Play Out. The tracks from this project have been trickling out since the autumn of 2023, ‘The Art Of Letting Go’, ‘Life Without Me’ and ‘Heaven Is Magnetic’, all building the tension around Eliza as a new force for alternative pop.
The two songs unveiled to make it five are ‘Been Through Hell’ and ‘True Nature’, between them heading up a fierce EP. The first brings serious momentum to the project’s opening. Plucky, retro-tinged bass tones blended with euphoric vocal layers and a gently arranged slew of twinkling instrumental flair. It shows the project to be one of gaining confidence, driven by its intention as a ‘break-free’ moment for Eliza.
‘True Nature’ follows with a more laid-back feel, nestling in for a more contemporary pop understanding. It rises and falls through verses and choruses, but at its core is driven by the same grooving synth bass and energised rhythms that the first track teed up. This is where Eliza shows her potential; she’d be indistinguishable from a bit of vintage-tinged pop gracing the top of the charts, marking her as a key one to watch for the rest of the year.
She shares, “This project is my declaration of honesty. For so long, I was afraid to be myself fully—whether it was talking about my sexuality or mental health struggles. These songs have been a catalyst for embracing unapologetic authenticity. The music industry, and the world, can be intimidating, especially for women, but I’m finally creating from a place of truth, not for validation. This EP marks the start of something freer, and I’m excited for what’s next.”
