Empathy is a band from Northside Dublin who, after rising on the live scene and earning their chops, unveiled their first single ‘Jeffrey’ earlier this year. Showcasing a dark and powerful sound, the group send an extra wave through the industry, sprinkling their live reputation with accolades from the press and radio. Dean Nolan, Adam McCarthy, Sam Sweetman and Dan Rheinisch are fast garnering attention, drawing influence from The Smashing Pumpkins, Pixies, and Interpol.
After delving into the mind of a serial killer for their debut, the band returned with ‘A Dying Breed’, taking on the mindset of people fuelled by status, challenging their endless pursuit of ascension. They explain, “A Dying Breed is a song about the social climbers and sycophants we all brush shoulders with. Status seekers who ultimately burn out fast. We all know them.”
Intense foundations laced with kaleidoscopic lyrical design, the band show a more grounded side to their music, harnessing an alt-rock stance and letting it subtly growl. Fiery, melodic and combative where necessary, the band have a clear sonic palette and direction.
