Delivering her first new release of the year; last week, rising artist Frida Touray showcased her exciting talent and stunning vocals with her brand new single, Never Mine. Hailing from Sweden, now based in London, Frida is determined to show who she is as an artist, with her new release following on from her appearance on Goldie’s recent track, Lost, that she featured on alongside the talented Tom Misch. With her melodic, vibrant and emotive energy and artistry; Frida’s songs are stunningly beautiful, heartfelt, emotional offerings of love and life that come straight from her own lived experiences, with each new song giving a new window into her and her music.
The first track to be taken from her forthcoming EP, Mending, due for release later this year; Never Mine is the brilliant introduction to this unique talent. Produced by Chris Hyson, and co-produced by Yves Fernandez, Never Mine brings listeners into a dazzling melodic and ambient soundscape that is filled with soul and emotion. Minimal in its instrumentation, but rich in sentiment, the sonic landscape leaves Frida’s vocals to dominate the track; showcasing her incredible vocal talent. All about love, longing and yearning; the soft and emotive instrumentation perfectly reflects the personal, yet relatable, narrative.
Talking about the track, Frida explains:
“This song is about a love with beautiful potential but one that never gets to grow and evolve. It’s about longing for something and someone that you ultimately cannot have and learning how to let go.”
