“I keep moving backwards/ Hoping to find you there”
Today, Los Angeles-based indie-pop artist Ginesse, the musical project of the multi-talented actress Cait Fairbanks, is back with the release of her brand new single Gatorade – the first offering from Ginesse since she delivered her breakout debut EP Somewhere To Die late last year. Already having garnered a mass of attention within the acting world with her Emmy-nominated role on The Young and the Restless, Cait continues to showcase her artistic and musical talents; honing and developing her sound and style since her musical debut back in 2018, with Gatorade the latest taste of her artistic skill and energy. With more incredible releases on the horizon from the dazzling artist, she is certainly a rising talent to watch.
Her first release of the year, Gatorade opens with an addictive electro-based instrumental that brings us into the mesmerizing sonic world of the track. As the song progresses, Ginesse’s dreamy vocals emerge onto the scene with a melodic delivery that soars atop a myriad of pulsating electro beats, swooning synths, and an expertly crafted indietronica production. With the shimmering instrumentation immersing you in the captivating energy of the song, it also creates an enthralling backdrop for Ginesse’s vivid lyricism – highlighting her lyrical and songwriting prowess. With the track delivering a nod to Ginesse’s personal interest in astrology and the meaning it can hold, the title of the song is a tongue-in-cheek play on the astrological phenomenon of mercury in retrograde.
“For some reason, mercury going into retrograde has always put me in a very nostalgic place. It’s a love letter to those I shared time with where the doors have remained open without resolution and without a clear understanding of why.”
