The latest from London pop-rock newcomers Good Time Locomotive is ‘Stay Close’, collaborating with Barfly. The song has a nostalgic edge thanks to the fantastic combination of heavy riffs and moments of rap delivery. Melodic, layered singing contrasts these melancholic moments with a story that turns from dark and reflective to confident and forward-looking choruses.
The extra elements of sparkled synth arpeggios, warming keys and tight drums all help achieve this range of emotions when needed, with moments of thin, wistful arrangements to rooted, bouncy grooves.
The band share, “We have all had our fair share of dark moments in this band and this song seemed to sum up both the struggle of those dark moments along with the fact that none of us are an island and that we all need each other to get through the worst times in life”
Starting out in the lockdowns of 2020, Good Time Locomotive was forged over Zoom calls and quarantined studio sessions. Taking time to build up their style and ability, the band first released in 2023, and has since consistently turned around vibrant new singles.
