Jeremy Hewitt, better known by his stage name Jeremy Loops, has been making waves within the music scene since his international breakout year in 2015 that saw him open for Twenty One Pilots and headline his own 30,000 ticket tour. Hailing from South Africa, the multi-talented singer, songwriter, and record producer has been perfecting his craft and artistry over the past several years – now having amassed an impressive 180+ million streams – since embarking on his musical journey in his final years of college and debuting his self-titled debut EP a few years later in 2011. Most recently, Jeremy has delivered his latest new offering that sees him teaming up with the legendary Ladysmith Black Mambazo – the biggest South African world music act – on their brand new single, This Town.
Marking a new phase in his music journey, This Town is taken from Jeremy’s highly anticipated forthcoming EP, Souvenirs, which is set for release on October 8th. A stunning 5 track record, Souvenirs is set to include his previous 2021 single Postcards, alongside This Town and some new releases. Showcasing Jeremy’s affectionate and easy-going relationship between himself and Ladysmith Black Mambazo, This Town is filled with a captivating and addictive vibe and energy that radiates positivity and warmth. Injecting pure hope and bravery into the listener, the vibrant soundscape bursts with a bold and melodic energy that is woven into the poignant spirit of the song, as the stunning vocals reiterate the integral nature of community and passion that both artists stand for.
Speaking about the EP and This Town, Jeremy says:
“We had this huge plan for 2020 to drop an album and tour, but yeah, plans don’t exactly survive pandemics. So instead, I asked myself if I could pick anybody in the world to write with, who would that be? And if I could write any kinds of songs, even ones that wouldn’t traditionally make it onto an album, what would those be? This wonderful collection of songs on Souvenirs and being bold enough to reach out to LSBM is a result of asking those questions in an otherwise strange time.”
