Jay Moussa-Mann is drenched in devotion on new single ‘Tangled’

Jay Moussa-Mann’s recent success has seen her singles decorate music publications and receive airwaves on BBC Introducing. Since her debut in 2018, Jay has consistently grown and evolved, selected for mentorship, gracing stages all around her home town and supporting fellow rising stars, putting herself in the perfect position for this wave of achievement.

Jay’s latest track is inspired by a honeymoon spent in the seaside town of Akyaka in Turkey. The new single ‘Tangled’ is all about capturing these feelings in her sound, embracing a Mediterranean feel within her signature synth-glittered pop aesthetic.

Each sparkling moment in the lyrical story is enforced with equally radiant sound design. Jay’s love grows to a fever pitch throughout the song, intertwining with the passion of romance. By the final climax, the soundscape is filled with pulsing synths, scintillating lead lines, wobbling bass lines and bright guitar grooves. Punchy drum movement and a sea of angelic harmonies enclose the devotion-drenched, infectious vocal line. Any reservation or fear is finally dismissed and Jay embraces this newfound love in full.

Jay explains how she captured the sounds of her childhood, “I wanted to create a song that really captured Turkish summers for me, I spent my childhood there, so it never felt like I was ‘going on holiday’ when summer arrived. It was part of my life, the burning sands, the cicadas, the people. It was who I was.

I’ve never been super confident on guitar, especially electric but I saw this as a challenge and so I kept playing around with Guitar Rig 6 and my Squier Stratocaster until I had these very simple riffs layered up and suddenly, it sounded like what I was hearing in my head. It sounded like the Mediterranean.”
