Atmospheric and dreamy, Jessie Reid’s brand new track ‘Wake Up’ is the perfect single to add to your chilled playlists. Harbouring an overall acoustic yet still perfectly polished feel, the impressive song gently ebbs and flows, showing off Jessie’s crystal clear vocal quality to the best of its ability. With an ever growing and loyal fanbase, Jessie’s monthly Spotify listeners currently sits at over 85,000, exemplifying her captivating talent.
Opening up about her new track, Jessie reveals: “I suppose the song is best summarised by the line ’the harder we try, the closer we get to goodbye’. It attempts to recapture some of the frustrations of unsuccessfully trying to fix a relationship. In a way the lyrics represent what I would have said to myself at that moment in time and telling myself to ‘wake up’ to the reality of the situation. There is a sense of anger in the song in some kind of way and I think this is mirrored in the build up towards the end of the song with the heavier use of electronic instrumentation which is something I don’t usually do!”
Receiving support from many Spotify editorials over the past year and garnering extensive radio play from BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson and Chris Hawkins, BBC Wales’s Janice Long and BBC Introducing in Shropshire, Jessie is turning heads and there is no question as to why. Be sure to keep this artist on your radar.
