John Dhali is providing the kind of sonic pick-me-up that we all need right now. His new single ‘In Time’ is an upbeat and uplifting groove, combining elements of indie, soul, pop and folk. The track offers rich yet nuanced instrumentation, including shimmering tambourines, gliding strings and dynamic percussion. John’s smooth and agile voice has a certain gritty tone to it, which gives the song a raw, authentic quality. ‘In Time’ is accompanied by a mesmerising music video shot in central London, featuring John dancing uninhibited through Piccadilly Circus in a paint-speckled t-shirt, reiterating the liberating message of the song.
Explaining the song, Dhali says: “The song is really about not waiting around, which is funny cos I wrote it four years ago in India. I guess it was like a prophecy. It’s taken me this long to work out how to be me. It’s kinda like a declaration to myself that I’m not gonna dress up in any bullshit. We’re all here in time, and we don’t have long so I can’t waste mine being buried under some crumbling facade when what’s underneath is beautiful. I genuinely believe that the Self in everyone is divine, so I refuse to disguise or crush mine like I have in the past. Take it or leave it, here’s mine now show me yours kinda thing.”
Dhali has already been recognised as an exciting prospect on the UK scene, receiving national airplay on BBC Radio 1 and 2, multiple regional awards for ‘Best Solo Artist’ and playing support slots for notable artists, including Frank Turner and Lucy Spraggan. His latest single ‘In Time’ gives off an undeniable impression of big star potential. John Dhali is an artist bold enough to be his unreserved self, and the world is sure to fall in love with his music and his message.
