Inspired and supported by his family to pursue a career in the arts, Joshua McCooey, at only seventeen, is already seeing success with his blend of pop and rock. Involved in musical theatre from a young age, the San Francisco Bay-hailing songwriter has gone on to become a student of the world-famous Joffrey Ballet School.
With Joshua’s latest single, ‘Dance With Me Sophie’, he showcases a nostalgic edge to his songwriting through a rose-tinted look on falling in love. With each line drenched in romance, Joshua’s vocals dance between reverberant guitar melodies, swaying drums and warming bass. Leading audiences on a beautifully sweet journey of glowing emotion, the track falls from bar to bar, gently sinking a powerful emotional climax. Reserved yet soaring, it’s a strong follow-up to Joshua’s debut EP ‘Show and Tell’, which was released last November.
Joshua adds, ”I wanted to write a song that people could dance to. The song reflects my personal experience but my hope is that listeners can relate to it as well.”
