“Getting tired of holding on while the world is spinning/ but if I let go am I gunna lose it all?”
Back with a brand new single and the first release since her 2019 debut album Life In Rear View; independent and self-supported singer-songwriter Kara Connolly is back and better than ever with her latest offering and first release of the year – her exciting new track Something More. Debuting a new sound and side to her artistic and sonic style, Something More takes a slight detour from Kara’s previous releases as she strays away from her more typical acoustic, singer-songwriter pop vibe to deliver a more 90s inspired alt-pop energy. With the brand new release out today, this marks the start of an exciting new chapter for Kara in her musical journey and continues to showcase why she is an incredible artist to watch.
A captivating and enchanting alt-pop track, co-written and produced by Dan Sadin; Something More was written at a time when Kara was feeling stuck, exhausted and low just before quarantine hit. Introducing the track are Kara’s gentle and emotive vocals that are placed right at the forefront of the sonic landscape and are accompanied by a minimalistic and subtle rhythmic percussive beat that runs throughout; creating an immersive acapella-style vibe and highlighting her vocal talent. As the track progresses, the instrumentation builds as the chorus kicks in, to deliver a melodic alt-pop, guitar led beat and vibrant instrumental that is hard to resist. Filled with energy and emotion, this is a perfect new addition to all you favourite playlists and collection of summer anthems.
Talking about the inspiration and meaning behind the track, Kara explains:
“We had written the lyric “Maybe time will stop if I can slowly break it” and then, in a twist of fate, time really did stop in a way”.
Another incredible release and fantastic way to kick of her year in music this 2021, make sure to keep up with Kara on all her socials:
