After making the move from Oklahoma to Prague, Mary Elle has begun to build a bewitching musical career. Discovered and mentored by Gregory Darling, her initial singles were a refreshing moment for tastemakers, something she hopes to continue with her new track ‘Down The Rabbit Hole’.
‘Down The Rabbit Hole’, is an honest, intoxicatingly vulnerable ode to the breaking down of a toxic relationship. Mary pulls no punches, her vocals calling out to the listener, almost helplessly, cutting deeply with the frostiness of the harmony.
Within the resounding piano ballad, the melodies drift and float, the thinly textured arrangement untethered to a rigid instrumental structure. Each addition, from the kick drum to the angelic overtones of vocals, is done subtly, and effortlessly, empowering the lead melodies instead of detracting from them.
Mary explains the new single, “The inspiration behind the song is describing what it feels like to go through a toxic relationship, yet still leaving some room for interpretation”
