Max Embers – ‘got to get you’

“Travelled places far away / into the deep space of my brain”

Last week, independent Los Angeles singer-songwriter Max Embers released his latest single and the accompanying music video for his brand new track, got to get you. Derived from the feeling and universal experience of the never-ending process of getting to know yourself, got to get you showcases the latest taste of Max’ vibrant, Ed Sheeran-esque artistic stylings and his captivating pop vocals. A finalist on the premiere of NBC’s Songland back in 2019, performing his original song Back Home; since then, Max has continued to go from strength to strength and further add to his ever growing sonic collection with his incredible series of single releases. With his latest release serving as a teaser to his upcoming EP idyllwild, we can be sure to hear more dazzling new music coning from the talented artist very soon.

With a gentle and ambient atmosphere that perfectly reflects the song’s introspective and reflective nature, got to get you opens with a stripped back guitar-led instrumental that instantly immerses us deep into the sonic world of the track and gives off a sense of heart-felt and poignant vulnerability. Beautifully paired alongside the soothing melody are Max’ soft and emotive vocals, harmoniously floating atop the soundscape to create a truly mesmerising energy, and showcasing his vocal skill and prowess. Alongside the single, Max also delivered a stunning new music video to accompany the track that features him performing the song against a variety of backdrops; from night-lit city skies to a moonlit campfire. A truly enchanting new release, Max is undoubtedly a fantastic rising talent and artist to watch.

“The idea, with a willpower of its own, chooses its creative partner when it feels that it has found someone who’s ready to work with it. In Idyllwild, this was different. I had ideas popping into my head constantly and “got to get you” was one of them.”
