Bringing you some music motivation to get you through the week, here’s our mid week music rundown with some incredible new tracks from some fantastic rising artists.
Ski Team – ‘Photos’
Back with her first release of the year and continuing to showcase her enchanting and captivating artistry, rising artist Ski Team delivered her latest single Photos late last month. The solo project of Lucie Lozinski, an independent songwriter, singer, producer, and guitarist based in Brooklyn; the multi-talented artist emerged onto the music scene last year with her debut release Brother. With an emotive and vibrant acoustic style that immerses listeners deep into her sonic world; Ski Team’s music is most defined by vulnerability, both within her songwriting and performance. The latest new release from the talented artist, Photos is Ski Team’s newest single that is all about being stuck in a moment. With a stunning instrumentation to accompany the relatable narrative, the song opens with a poignant orchestral melody that transitions into a gentle minimalistic guitar-led instrumental that acts as the perfect bed for Lucie’s sentimental and emotive vocals.
“Ski Team was supposed to be me and my brother (two ‘Skis), but he already had a band so now it’s me and any friends I pick up along the way. Spirituals like Amazing Grace or Swing Low, Sweet Chariot are the main way I learned to sing—improvising each time, finding new harmonies and layers, inspired by the spirit and the moment.”
Olivia Morreale – ‘Another Moon’
Late last month, rising Los Angeles-based artist and producer Olivia Morreale unveiled her latest and exciting new release – her brand new single Another Moon; the final pre-released single taken from her forthcoming EP Space Dreams. Like all the other pre-released tracks we’ll see featured on the upcoming EP, Another Moon saw Olivia working once again with her friend and co-collaborator Eli Kosoff (producer & songwriter) to bring the track to life; this time seeing Eli also lend his vocals to deliver beautifully layered harmonies that perfectly blend with Olivia’s, and flawlessly complete the song. A slow-burning, R&B-inflicted number, Another Moon is all about escapism in both the physical and emotional sense, which is perfectly reflected in the immersive and vibey instrumental that submerges you into the depths of the song’s sonic world. A stunning new release from the talented artist, this is certainly one track you’ll be keeping on loop.
“I wanted to portray the joy and fun that comes with imagining how things might look and feel in a completely different dream world. It’s an ode to escapism and a celebration of imagination”.
Noni A. – ‘20s’
Making her emergence onto the music scene earlier this year with the release of her debut single Losing Game; 21-year-old Berlin-based singer-songwriter Noni A. is back with another stunning release as she delivers her brand new offering – her single 20s, released last week. Written in her bedroom and turned into a chill pop production by her brother, 20s talks about the aspects of life in your twenties that happen in the background but are not often addressed. Introducing us to a new side of her artistry and taking us in a new sonic direction; 20s dives into the chill pop scene, including and incorporating lo-fi elements and more samples that are all underlined by a strong and rhythmic beat. A captivating and addictive track with a relatable and universal narrative and energy, Noni A. continues to prove and showcase why she is one of 2021’s rising artist to watch.
“”I walked into my kitchen one evening and had absolutely no motivation to clean it. Apparently when you’re 20 that becomes a regular activity (cheers to my mom for letting me live blissfully unaware of this and cleaning up my stuff too). This realisation of my day-to-day life as a 20-something-year-old turned into the inspiration of 20s. This song talks about all those things that everyone experiences in their twenties that happen in the background of our lives: moving out of your home town, adjusting to life on your own, procrastinating (if you say you don’t procrastinate, stop lying) and learning how to use your washing machine (in my opinion a straight-up mystery).”
Parks N’ Rec – ‘A Little Cruel’
The new project from Canadian singer Marco DiFelice, the multi talented songwriter, music supervisor and producer gives us a first glimpse into his new sound and style as he debuts his brand new artist project Parks N’ Rec with the release of his debut single A Little Cruel – alongside a brand new music video for the track. Having previously released a solo EP titled The Sun that Somewhat Sets under the moniker Marco Solo in 2007; he has since been honing his craft and is now back and better than ever with his exciting new project. Showcasing his vibrant artistry, and vocal and songwriting talents; through his music, Parks N’ Rec will cover a range of relatable and universal topics that include lost love, polarizing societies, and self-renewal. Written on a farm in the Costa Rican jungle, A Little Cruel is all about how easily one can sweep pain under the rug, knowing it won’t work, while dealing with closure at the end of a relationship.
