Midweek Music Motivation. 06

Bringing you some music motivation to get you through the week, here’s our mid week music rundown with some incredible new tracks from some fantastic rising artists.

Johnny Ashby – ‘Wild’

Continuing his series of incredible releases this year; last week, London born, Los Angeles based singer-songwriter Johnny Ashby came back with his latest new release – his brand new single Wild. Acting as a follow on from his earlier release SOS, Wild brings us into a mesmerising and ethereal sonic world that delivers a stunning indie-folk led melody. Having emerged onto the music scene back in 2015, Wild brings us into a new chapter of his artistic and musical journey; comparatively more emotive and beautifully haunting than his previous releases. Opening with a delicate and immersive instrumental, before Johnny’s honeyed vocals emerge onto the scene, the song gives off an ambient and atmospheric energy that takes you deep into a majestic and tender soundscape that features an array of soulful, string-led melodies and up-beat percussive moments. A captivating new release, this is perfect for fans of Bon Iver and Iron & Wine.

“I’ve always written these songs about running away like I’m trying to escape from something and in a sense SOS was a part of that. Wild is written in the aftermath. Every time I’ve travelled to a new place I’ve noticed how it’s changed me and pushed me to grow spiritually in some way. When I write “Follow me into the wild” it’s like I’m back home after that adventure and I’m saying “Now what?”. That feeling after an adventure when you just want to go back out and find another one!”
