The last track from indie-tinged MC Palblu is ‘want u to know’, bringing together bright and breezy pop with high-energy drum and bass breaks. It’s an illuminating single, with easy-going production, carefree vocal performances, and a joyful song that came out of a tough time for the artist.
Ryan Gonsalves, the man behind Paleblu, explains, “I started writing this song in October having gone through a pretty rough time. The music I’d been writing at the time had been quite deep and emotional, I found myself in a phase where a lot of the stuff I was writing was depressing. This was the first song where I thought I’d try and switch the mood to be a bit more positive. I feel like we could all use a bit of hope and positivity right now!”
Brimming with life, the track is a classic example of Paleblu’s unique indie jungle style but feels more optimistic than ever before. The soft saxophone melodic layers, the quiet guitars and a grooving bass line into a swelling sub under the rolling drums.
Hailing from Aldersbrook, Ryan got his start as a rave MC, moving up the ranks from Fabric to Printworks to a slot on Reprezent radio. By 21, he’d hosted nights for Hospital records and RAM records. This quick career has continued, supporting Nia Archives and performing ahead of Fred Again..’s secret set at Glastonbury.
