Today, singer-songwriter Sam Seccombe is back with another incredible new release that follows on from his previous single last month; his brand new track – I Won’t Be Doing That Again. Another incredible track, the single is classically “Sam Seccombe”; and it retains his signature mellow, indie-acoustic sound. Ahead of the tracks release, we caught up with Sam to chat more in-depth about the single, and the inspiration and creative process behind the song. “The track is ultimately about trying to find the silver lining to a break up – trying to find a way to justify why you made the mistakes in the first place, but equally why it’s gonna be best to just accept it happened and find something good out of it.”
Sam on I Won’t Be Doing That Again
Despite essentially being a break-up song; the track remains up-beat and buoyant. With gentle indie melodies and easy-listening guitar riffs; there is something incredibly peaceful about the song. A perfect follow on from his previous single Unboyfriend; Sam seems to be sticking to a theme of gentle break up tracks while putting a refreshingly positive spin on a typically sombre theme. Talking about the creative process behind the track, Sam spoke about how “this one I managed to get done pretty quick! 5 weeks in all from writing to the finished product. It’s a pretty simple track, so I didn’t want to over complicate it. I think it’s simplicity is what gives the track its charm though”.
“It’s definitely been hard to motivate myself at times. I think I really undervalued how important it is to be playing your music live, even every now and then. It gives it a meaning for someone else to hear it in person, and without that it feels like continuing to make music is redundant. I’m really looking forward to playing live again (hopefully soon), but for now am trying to settle into livestreaming – the closest thing to it I guess.”
A perfect track to add to your Sunday morning playlist, I Won’t Be Doing That Again is another incredible release from Sam Seccombe.
