Single Ruin: EP ‘Unique’

Continuing his string of alt-pop releases, and showcasing his artistic diversity and skill; today, producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Single Ruin is back with the release of his brand new EP, UniqueHighlighting his development as an artist and writer, the record is filled with strong lyrical content and emotive lyricism throughout and features previously released singles such as Careful Now and Pure Magic. Marking the start of a new chapter of Single Ruin’s artistic journey, the 7-track EP is his first extended project to date and gives us another glimpse into his unique and captivating sonic world.

Opening the record is the latest pre-released single Careful Now, that perfectly sets the tone for the rest of the EP with its gritty and rhythmic synth-led production. As we head into the body of the EP, track number 2 is the title track Unique. Giving off an alt-rock vibe and taking a turn away from the sound we hear on Careful Now, the track instantly captures your attention with its rhythmic and addictive instrumental and makes for a truly enchanting listen; continuing the same brooding vibe into the next track, You Want Me Back. Single Ruin then switches things up on track number 4, Make Up Your Damn Mind, as he moves away from a rock-led energy back to a more alt-pop realm; all the while, maintaining the melodic theme of rhythmic guitar lines and bold percussive beats that run throughout. Exploring more atmospheric sounds and energies on Just A Heads Up and I Feel Lucky, while interweaving some edgier rock elements; the EP comes to a close on a dynamic, punchy note as the last bars of the final track, Pure Magic, play out.

Talking about the EP, Single Ruin explains:

“I tasked myself with creating an idea a day at the start, it didn’t have to be a full song, it could be anything that sparked a new idea.”
