Last week, alt pop singer and songwriter Spencer Sutherland dropped his latest new single, Too Many Friends. The latest in a series of incredible releases from the singer, Too Many Friends is a track that touches on wanting to finally get out of the friend zone. Maintaining a classic Spencer Sutherland aura; the feel-good single is a representation of what Spencer’s music & lyrics are known for: staying truthful in his song-writing while also dancing between genres, and a diverse range of inspirations.
Written & produced by Jonas Jeberg, and co-written by David Gibson, the track also serves as a piece in his discography that just feels good during a time when we’re all stressed out. With a more retro, and 80s pop vibe; Too Many Friends is filled with a vibrant soundscape that builds and transforms to create a truly exciting and electric listen, with the constant being an addictive guitar beat running throughout. In its sonic composition, the track perfectly mimics the exciting & frantic feelings that arise when you’re ready to make the next move; it continuously builds more and more until tipping you over the edge.
When discussing the song, spencer spoke about how “In this crazy heavy world, I wanted to let people have an escape for a second and think about something fun. The song was inspired by now serious girlfriend Madison Iseman and is about essentially trying to get out of the friend zone”.
A perfect edition to Spencer’s ever growing and evolving discography and sound; the track is certainly one to add to your current favourite playlists! For more on Spencer, and to keep up with his next new releases; follow him on all his socials @spencermusic
