Indie-trio Sunday Smoke shines on new emotive acoustic ballad ‘Already Know’

Whenever a band are a handful of releases into their creative journey, it’s always worth taking a step back and using the beauty of retrospect to see how far they could go. Do their words ring true? Can you hum the melodies back in your head for hours on end, and do their recordings truly stand out? As far as I’m concerned, with Sunday Smoke, they tick every box.

With the release kicking off with a vivid acoustic strum, ‘Already Know’ paints pictures before a single lyric has been spoken. Here, the band showcase their more reserved side, offering a more in-your-feels approach to songwriting, something that highlights the maturity of the group. Telling tales about love’s fleeting moments, the comings and goings of relationships, and the fact that hindsight is always twenty-twenty, the gentle, jangly guitar sways of ‘Already Know’ highlight a band that could be about to go full swing.

The band continue their trademark of lacing their releases with authentic, true-to-life sentiments. Explaining the influences and creative ideas behind the single, they unfold, “This song is about acceptance, realising something isn’t going to work out, and letting it go without anger or regret. It’s about recognising when holding onto certain people and situations is harder than letting go.”
